Getting the layout right – to meet the customers needs
In this particular case study, the customer had out-grown their premises and had bought an additional warehouse that would give them the space that they needed.
The customer needed both long term bulk storage areas and faster moving bulk storage areas to replenish stock held on the picking levels.
The Shelving Units
The shelving units needed to be very robust, with closed sides and backs to prevent the stock from falling. We chose a well known Birmingham Manufacturer, to support our local economy.
Aisle width
The Aisle width needed to accommodate trolleys used by the pickers
The shelf UDL was very specific from the customer and load notices were attached to each bay.
Forklift Protection
Forklifts needed to operate near the designated area and so Racking protection was advised to separate the two areas from bulk storage and picking
Finish
The customer choose a galvanised finish, to give a clean smart look to the warehouse and also to ensure longevity of the shelves.
The Project was completed on time and within budget
